But on Tuesday, Brian Johnson and Stacie Langendorf picked up their carry-out orders â country fried steak and fried chicken â at the Apple Dumplinâ before heading back to Sidney. The popular restaurant reopened for carry-out service only at 11 a.m., and Johnson and Langendorf were first in line. âWeâre here to support their business,â Langendorf said. The family-owned operation had its health permit suspended for indoor dining earlier this month. CHAMPAIGN â Local authorities are seeking temporary restraining orders against two local restaurants that are continuing to operate with suspended health permits. Hearings have been set for Thursday for temporary restraining orders filed by the Champaign County Stateâs Attorneyâs Office against Lil Bufordâs, 102 N. Long St., Tolono, and by the Champaign-Urbana Public Health Districtâs attorney, Ruth Wyman, against Merry-Annâs Diner, 1510 S. Neil St., C. The health permits for both restaurants were suspended earlier this month after they continued to serve indoors in violation of a state order forbidding indoor service at bars and restaurants in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19. ....

URBANA â Apple Dumplinâ restaurant in Urbana is now permanently restricted from operating without a valid health permit. That was part of a settlement between the restaurant and county health officials spelled out in a permanent injunction order approved Wednesday morning by Judge Benjamin Dyer. The settlement also included an agreement by restaurant owners Jim and Kathryn Flaningam to comply with all applicable laws, including any notice of requirements issued by the Champaign County Public Health Department. The agreement also included the dismissal of two related cases â a lawsuit the Flaningams filed against the health department and an ordinance-violation case filed against Kathryn Flaningam for operating a food establishment without a valid health permit. ....
