Kevin Boberg left a legacy of innovation and inspiration at NMSU

LAS CRUCES - Kevin Boberg spent more than 30 years serving New Mexico State University and was the idea man behind some of its most impactful economic development and community engagement projects but you’d never know it to talk to him. Always keen to defer attention to other collaborators and colleagues, Boberg seldom took credit for the impact he had on the university and its students, though his humble nature belied a lasting legacy of transformative work.
Boberg, who passed away in March after a long illness, joined the faculty of NMSU’s College of Business in 1987, having previously taught at Penn State University and the University of Hawaii. He was soon named associate dean and director of the Bureau of Business Research and Services in the college. ....

NMSU to launch Center for Border Economic Development


New Mexico State University’s College of Business will house a new resource hub dedicated to promoting business expansion and economic development along New Mexico’s southern border region.

Planning is well underway for the Center for Border Economic Development, or C-BED, a new project spearheaded by longtime NMSU economics professor Christopher Erickson.
“C-BED will identify impediments to border business expansion and economic development and bring to bear the resources of NMSU to help overcome those impediments,” said Erickson, head of NMSU’s Department of Economics, Applied Statistics and International Business. ....
