DeWolf sworn in as Troy's new Police Chief


TROY, N.Y. — The Troy Police Department celebrated a pair of promotions Thursday afternoon at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom.
Succeeding former Police Chief Brian Owens, Deputy Chief of Police Daniel DeWolf was promoted to Chief of Police. Plus, moving up to DeWolf s old position, Assistant Chief of Police Christopher Kehn was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police.
Troy Mayor Patrick Madden spoke to the packed house on hand and emphasized the significance of these appointments.

Three and a half years ago, in a similar ceremony, I said there is probably no greater responsibility for a mayor than his or her appointment of leadership positions in city government, Madden said. ....

Troy police welcome four new officers to department during ceremony


Joining the department ranks are Jack Engster, Katherine Molesky, David Grant, and Kevin Koberger.
Troy Police Chief Brian Owens addressed the new quartet and welcomed them to the department.

This is an important day for our department and city. And an exciting day for them and their families. While I have not yet had the opportunity to work with them yet, I ve been impressed by their application and interviews. The diversity of backgrounds, life experiences, and ideas will help to make our department richer for the differences, Owens remarked.
We have been impressed by their connections to the city of Troy and their choice to work in a busy urban environment. We have spoken with numerous people in the community who know them and they are each highly regarded, Owens continued. ....
