Kate Nance is a recent graduate of Wichita State University s Department of Sociology, having received her master s degree earlier this year. Nance s thesis, Art as a means of urban revitalization? An examination of creative placemaking, artist perspective, gentrification, and neighborhood change in Wichita, Kansas, examines the role that the arts have in a city s image and economy. What she found in the process was that Wichita has some commonalities with its larger counterparts when it comes to issues of displacement and gentrification. ....
