VANCOUVER The body of a man in his 20s has been found more than two months after a boat sank on the Fraser River. Damian Dutrisac was reported missing in May, after the boat he was in sank near Chilliwack, B.C. The 29-year-old had been fishing with a friend when the anchor became stuck. His fiancée told CTV News that whatever happened, it made the boat go under. Neither Dutrisac nor his friend had life jackets. The friend managed to get to safety and was rescued by a passing boater, but Dutrisac was gone. Mounties confirmed to CTV News Wednesday that his body was located.

VANCOUVER People spent hours Wednesday searching along the Fraser River and surrounding shoreline for any sign of a missing Abbotsford man. Twenty-nine-year-old Damian Dutrisac hasn’t been seen since the boat he was fishing in sank on May 7 near Chilliwack. Dutrisac was out fishing last Friday afternoon on the Fraser River near the mouth of the Sumas River when the boat’s anchor got stuck, and the vessel went under. Kristen Parker’s boyfriend Andrew was in the boat with Damian, and managed to swim to safety. “Andrew somehow swam about 400 yards to get to shore,” she said. “He said he looked back and he could see Damian swimming towards him, and once he got to shore, he could no longer see him.”
VANCOUVER Ever since Karyssa Mclean and her fiancée Damian Dutrisac got engaged last fall, they’ve been planning their upcoming wedding, and their future together. “One of the last messages he ever sent to me was telling me how excited he was to get married,” she said. “It doesn’t seem real to have your whole life planned out like this, and for it just to be taken away so quick.” Mclean is now praying for Dutrisac to come home, after the boat he was out fishing in went under the water last Friday on the Fraser River, near the mouth of the Sumas River in Chilliwack.
