The Karnataka State Backward Class Commission is expected to receive a 15-day extension to submit its survey report due to final revisions. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy challenged the current Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to accept the Kantharaju Commission report. The Congress party responded by stating their commitment to working for the progress of backward classes and that they will review the report once it is submitted. The development comes within a week of the Vokkaligara Sangha, the umbrella body of Vokkaligas, giving a petition to the CM, urging him not to accept the survey, conducted by the Karnataka State Backward Class Commission. The signatories to this petition include Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Agriculture Minister N Cheluvaraswamy as well as Congress MLAs.
