The At Home in New England room showcases the inner workings of a home with items such as a physical green glass urn displayed on a pedestal and a painting of a woman working in her kitchen. The New England s People room displays portraits of historical figures from various backgrounds, and the final collection, The Wide World, is where visitors can see the impacts of places such as Venice and Florence on New England artists.
The exhibition is curated by Peter Trippi, editor-in-chief of Fine Art Connoisseur, and Nancy Carlisle, senior curator of collections at Historic New England. Paintings range from portraits by John Singleton Copley and Cephas Thompson to a street scene by William H. Titcomb and landscapes by Benjamin Champney and William H. Titcomb.
