Funding from The Rotary Club of St. Joseph-Benton Harbor, along with a matching grant from the Rotary Foundation and a Karl Sandelin grant from the Rotary District 6360 Foundation have purchased a grain mill for two refugee settlements in Uganda supported by the South Sudan Leadership and Community Development organization (SSLCD). SSLDC lead staff person, Daniel Ajak, stated in his October report: "The community is now so excited to use the grinding mill machines to grind their flour. They are so excited that they have their very own members operating these two machines not only to make profits but also to develop the community, both the refugees and the host communities. This is not something they have experienced in their lives either in South Sudan or in the refugee camps. The fact that it is being done by women is perhaps even more astounding."
