Adolf Eichmann, German high official who was hanged by the State of Israel for his part in the Holocaust, the Nazi extermination of Jews during World War II. Following the war Eichmann lived in Germany under a false name before fleeing to Argentina, where he was arrested by Israeli secret service agents in 1960.
