A virtual seminar on civil liability for nuclear damage was held 14-15 December 2020 for officials and stakeholders from Morocco with the goal of supporting the country to align its national legislation with the Convention on Supplementary Compensation for Nuclear Damage (CSC), which entered into force on 15 April 2015.
Organized at the request of the Government, the seminar provided an opportunity to discuss the IAEA s comments on the revisions proposed to the 2005 Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Law (No. 12-0202). The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss Decree No 2-05-1560 of 21 April 2006, which implements the Law. ....

Morocco has shown a clear interest in participating in the modernised nuclear liability instruments, Karim El-Assefry, head of the Nuclear Applications and Safety Division of the country s Ministry of Energy, Mines and Environment, said at a recent virtual seminar on civil liability for nuclear damage.
