A lot of times, (businesses) don’t always need $10,000 grants; sometimes it’s only $1,000 or $2,000. Rev. Andy Nagy-Benson MIDDLEBURY The unofficial guardian angel of small, struggling Middlebury-area businesses has made another huge donation this time for  $350,000 to help those that have taken a financial hit from the COVID-19 pandemic. The anonymous benefactor who lives overseas but has ties to Middlebury has now given a total of $650,000 this year to help area farms, restaurants, and now stores that are barely making ends meet during a pandemic that just marked its grim one-year anniversary.

With additional funding up to five businesses will receive $20,000 cash grants Vermont Business Magazine The Better Middlebury Partnership (BMP) announced today that as a result of generous donations from two community organizations, Kick Start Middlebury has doubled the size of the grants offered in its business recruitment effort, from $10,000 to $20,000 in start-up cash. Now with a total of $110,000 cash at its disposal, plus services donated by area businesses, the Kick Start Middlebury program is poised to change the town’s business and retail landscape.  The increase comes after a donation from Table 21, a non-profit founded by the Congregational Church of Middlebury (UCC).  After the church received a generous charitable gift earlier this year, Rev. Vermont Business Magazine The Kick Start Middlebury program, created by a partnership of property owners and government, economic development, educational and business entities, is now accepting Letters of Interest to establish, relocate or expand a business in Middlebury. At least two applicants will receive an incentive package that includes free or discounted services and products donated by area businesses, a $10,000 grant made available by the Town of Middlebury’s business development fund, and various benefits offered by property owners.
