Cliff and Karen Cawley were in quarantine when they tested positive for COVID-19. The Beaumont couple, both 62, had been erring on the side of safety in hope of seeing family for Christmas.
But instead, on Christmas Day, Karen was admitted to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, where she remains as she recovers from the virus.
Cliff was the first to be diagnosed, said family member Ericha Kemm.
“I messaged her personally and said, ‘How are you doing today?’ And she said, ‘I’m not as symptomatic as Cliff.’ Then a few days later, she’s the one going to the hospital,” Kemm said.
