Karbi Anglong to get projects worth more than INR 2000 crore

DIPHU Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will be laying various developmental foundation stones worth INR 2503.91 crore in Karbi Anglong, said Amarsing Tisso, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Executive Member (EM) in a press conference held at KAAC, New secretariat building here on Wednesday. ‘Assam CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Minister of Hills Area Department Jugen Mohan and PHE Minister Jayanta Baruah are coming down to Taralangso, Diphu on Thursday to lay the foundation stones. The Assam government has given a developmental scheme for Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council for roads and medical, while distribution of ICDS kits and centres will also be held. Apart from this, another 200 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) centres for Karbi Anglong through a special package from the Assam government will be given. KCS calls on President of India

DIPHU: President of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), Chondrosing Kro said the KCS leaders met President of India Droupadi Murmu during the Elephant Festival at Kohora on Friday (April 7) to extend their invitation to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebration of Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) in February next year. In a press conference held at KCS central committee office at Taralangso on Saturday, Kro said, “On April 7, getting the information that the President of India Droupadi Murmu is participating in the two-day Elephant Festival held at Kaziranga, we have gone to meet her at Kohora police guest house and conveyed to her about our invitation to grace as the chief guest to inaugurate the 50th KYF in February, 2024. Karbi language to become official language in KAAC

Our CorrespondentDiphu, Sep. 3 (EMN):The Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang convened a meeting with all stakeholders to discuss on making Karbi the official language of KAAC and an associate language in Assam as per clauses 3.2 and 3.4 of the MoS 2021. During the meeting at Arboretum cum Craft Centre in Diphu on Sep.2, it was stated that the six armed organisations on Sep. 4, 2021 signed a tripartite agreement with the government of Assam and the government of India where in clause 3.2 of the agreement said that the government of Assam will consider favourably the proposal of KAC to notify Karbi as the official language of KAAC. However, Hindi, English and Assamese would also continue to be used for official purposes. While clause 3.4 says, ‘the government of Assam shall set up a committee to study the demand for notifying the Karbi language as an associate language in Assam. Summer camp for children to learn Karbi folk dance and songs begins

Our CorrespondentDiphu, July 9 (EMN): A 15-day summer camp – free training cum workshop on Karbi folk dances and songs for children aged between 6 to 12 years – began on July 9 at Rangsina Sarpo cultural hall, Lorulangso in Diphu. The workshop is being organised by the Cultural Affairs department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) in association with Karbi Traditional Music, Culture & Research Institute. Inaugurating the camp the president of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), Chandrasing Kro said while lauding the organisers, said that teaching children Karbi folk dances and songs is a contribution towards promotion of Karbi culture among the young minds.
