The Dr. Phillips girls wrestling program kept the dynasty alive as the Panthers won their fifth consecutive state championship Saturday, Feb. 20. The dominating performance the Panthers captured the title by scoring 27 points more than second-place Freedom was led by state-champion performances by Juliana Diaz (117-pound division), Armelle Oliantus (162-pound division) and Skyy Gowan (197-pound division). ....

The Foundation boys basketball team had an absolute barn-burner in their 100-96, double-overtime victory over Seven Rivers Christian Saturday, Jan. 16. Leading the way for the Lions (5-5) was a double-double for freshman Jacob Crain, who exploded for 29 points on 14-of-21 shooting (67%) and 14 rebounds both of which led the team. Teammates Jacob Osborne and Grayson Bishop each added 16 and 15 points, respectively. 2. CFCA’s Nick Rodriguez helped lead the Eagles boys basketball team to an 84-72 win over Calvary Christian (Clearwater) Friday, Jan. 15. The junior combo guard recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points while dishing out 12 assists. In Windermere boys basketball’s heartbreaking 62-59 loss at the hands of Orlando Christian Prep at the Showdown in O-Town Saturday, Jan. 9, point guard Trey Moss had a solid showing. The senior racked up 21 points on seven three-pointers for the Wolverines. Teammate Kanye Jones added 18 points, while Jalen Debose recorded 13 points. In the game, the Wolverines knocked down 14 shots from deep. 2. In CFCA boys basketball’s 69-58 win over The Master’s Academy Friday, Jan. 8, Imanuel Zorgvol led the way for the Eagles. The senior big man went off for 23 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in the win. The win moved the Eagles to 8-4 on the season. ....
