KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood evacuees in the east coast of the Peninsula has continued to increase and more relief centres have been opened in several of the flood-hit areas. In Terengganu, the number of victims as at 7am today rose sharply to 4,094 people from 996 families as compared to 972 people from 246 families at 4.30pm yesterday. State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat chief, Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said following the surge in number of victims, there are now 33 relief shelters as compared to 10, yesterday evening. ....
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The flood situation in the east coast of the peninsula has worsened, with more victims being evacuated to temporary relief centres. In TERENGGANU, the number of flood evacuees rose to 972 people from 246 families as of 4.30pm Friday (Dec 18) compared with 275 people from 81 families at 8am. Terengganu disaster management committee secretariat chief lieutenant colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said that, so far, only the districts of Kemaman and Dungun had been hit by the floods. There was a significant increase in Kemaman, with 824 flood victims from 199 families compared with 203 people from 56 families this morning. Three more relief centres have been opened in Kemaman, taking the total number of relief centres operating in the district to seven. The number of evacuees in Dungun has also increased to 148 people from 47 families compared to 23 people from four families following the opening of two more centres, ” he told rep ....

State disaster management committee head of the secretariat, Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said that 56 residents from 16 families were affected and placed at Balairaya Padang Kubu and Sungai Mas mosque temporary relief centres (PPS). “Of that number, 47 people from 13 families are placed at Padang Kubu community hall and nine people from three families are housed at Sungai Mas mosque. “Evacuation process is still being carried out by the rescue team,” he said when contacted by Bernama today. ....
