Expert trekker retraces death march trail


KOTA KINABALU, 14 May 2021: Expert jungle trekker Tham Yau
Kong received acknowledgement from the Australian High Commission for his
contribution in researching and retracing the World War II Sandakan-Ranau Death
March route.
Tham’s involvement in identifying the original route used by
the Japanese soldiers to move Australian and British prisoners of wars (POWs)
is essential to help preserve the memory and courage of 2,428 unsung heroes who
died during the series of forced marches in 1945.

tourism product for those wanting to trek historical war trails in Sabah.

Eligible singers, musicians urged to contact MyIPO for royalty payment

KUALA BERANG: Recording singers and musicians who are eligible to receive royalties but have been left out of the previous payment list are advised to come forward and contact the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid (
pix) said so far, the ministry had received a list of 1,000 individuals who would receive the payment early next year.
“The government welcomes them to come forward and register. There is a certain amount that they will receive but if they are entitled (to the royalties), we will look at it,” he told reporters after visiting Kampung Dusun here yesterday. ....
