CONCORD N.C. (WBTV) - During National Police Week, the nation pays tribute to all law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities, among them Concord Police Officer and Rowan County native Jason Shuping.
During this solemn week of reflection and remembrance, Concord Police Chief Gary Gacek will present the Medal of Valor award and Purple Heart award to Ms. Haylee Shuping on behalf of her husband, Officer Shuping. Additional awards will be presented to members of the police department, city staff, and the public for their contributions in the moments, days, and weeks following Officer Shuping’s tragic line of duty death. ....

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (WBTV) - Local law enforcement officers were celebrated Saturday in Kannapolis.
Two Kannapolis establishments have an option where residents can âpay it forwardâ to law enforcement officers, first responders and those who serve and had served in the military.
Old Armor Beer Company and Local Patriot Roasting Company â both settled on West Avenue â spearheaded a âLaw Enforcement Block Partyâ on Saturday. ....

New memorial, nonprofit foundation to honor fallen Concord Police Officer

To honor the life of Concord Police Officer Jason Shuping, the Concord City Council recently approved a $100,000 budget amendment to fund a new Fallen Officer Memorial.
The city also filed necessary state and federal paperwork to establish a new nonprofit, Concord Police Foundation, to assist officers who are injured or killed in the line of duty and their families.
On Dec. 16, 2020, Shuping was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call about a crash and possible vehicle theft. Officer Kaleb Robinson was also injured while responding to the same call. Shuping was with the Concord Police Department for 1Â½ years before making the ultimate sacrifice in service to his community. CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - More than 6000 signatures have been collected for an online petition to name a bridge in Cabarrus County in honor and memory of fallen Concord Police officer Jason Shuping.
Shuping was killed while responding to a call in that area in December.
