Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to reach the Caf Champions League semi-finals while Simba SC are keen to make a comeback when the two sides clash in Dar es Salaam.
Simba information officer Haji Manara has since stated they had lost to the better team on the matchday and admitted his team’s display was poor and sloppy, coupled with many silly mistakes.
“We have lost to a team who were the best of the day,” Manara wrote on his social media pages. “We have played a very poor game and did not deserve to get anything from the game.
“We committed very many silly mistakes which deserved the humiliation we have received in Johannesburg but life must go on, we also have another 90 minutes to decide the destiny of the game in the return leg.”
Goal on Sunday. Our approach in the game from the start to the end was just not good. Considering the fact that we were away, a goal or two would not have been that bad for us considering the second leg was to be played at home.
The 29-year-old former Gor Mahia midfielder is, however, optimistic that things will change when the teams meet again in the second leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. On Saturday Chiefs were a better team than us; as in, in every department, they were stronger, Kahata continued. They also capitalised on the home advantage well. But it is football, the journey is still on. We will play them at home and I believe there is nothing impossible. We have a week to rectify the mistakes we made, and I am optimistic we will use the home ground advantage well to make it to the next phase.
“Sometimes things do work out you know - that s why I laughed,” said Hunt as per IOL.
“Ten or 15 seconds before that [fourth goal], I said what we need to do, the things we work on and where we need to be without the ball, and then we turned the ball over and we were in the right position so the goal came.
“So, that s why I laughed because that was pretty much [what we wanted]. You don t get that much in football but it was, from an organisational point of view, out of position. Because I knew when we turned it over that we would get a situation like that, and it worked out.”
