Over 130 arrested in prohibited wedding ceremonies


Rwanda National Police (RNP) paraded to the media 138 people, who were, separately, arrested in hospitality establishments in Kigali, where they were holding wedding receptions and a traditional marriage.
The violators include 60 people, who were caught on April 4, at around 6pm, in Le Printemps Hotel located in Jabiro Village, Nyagatovu Cell of Kimironko Sector.
Other 57 were caught in the house located in Rugunga Village, Muyange Cell, Kagarama Sector in Kicukiro District where they were holding a traditional marriage (Gusaba).
The house is owned by Bisengimana Justin, the owner of Rainbow hotel, which was recently closed due to non compliance with COVID-19 prevention directives. ....

Police arrests 17 people caught in house party drinking

Police and local leaders in Kicukiro District, in the morning of Sunday, January 10, arrested 17 people in Kanserege, Kagarama Sector where they had spent a night in a house party drinking.
Their actions are contrary to the government directives, which among others, prohibits social gatherings as one of the measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. The violators, all youth, came from different parts of Kigali.
The District Executive Administrator for Kicukiro, Solange Umutesi said that the violations were reported by neighbours.
“Neighbouring residents, who understand the current situation and the directives called local authorities and Police reporting noise pollution. We went there and found the young boys and girls in the house drinking and dancing. Some of them were drunk,” Umutesi said. ....
