President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday urged Nigerians to participate in the ongoing synchronization of National Identification Number, NIN, with SIM cards across the country, saying it would help cover the nation’s security structure and identify criminals terrorising Nigeria.
The President spoke at a time the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, lamented that inadequate satellite and other facilities are affecting monitoring of bandits and other criminal elements operating in the country. ....

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday lamented that some people who he described as unscrupulous elements have tried to undermine every policy of his administration, irrespective of the good it was meant to achieve for the country.
The President declared that some people are mercilessly against the country.
This is as the Professor Doyin Salami-led Presidential Economic Advisory Council, PEAC, has told President Buhari to be decisive in the fight against insecurity to ensure that the menace is brought to an end.
Speaking during the 6th regular meeting with the PEAC, in Abuja, the President promised that the Federal Government will focus on greater development of irrigation facilities in the country, and encourage more people into agriculture. ....

Kaduna varsity fires lecturer over alleged sexual harassment

The Kaduna State University, on Friday, promoted no fewer than 12 lecturers to the rank of Professor while eight others to an Associate Professor’s rank.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Abdullahi Ashafa in a statement, also announced the termination of the appointment of a lecturer over alleged sexual harassment.
The lecturer fired, Dr. Idowu Abbas, was of the Department of Geography of the institution.
The DVC said the university’s Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee, chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) investigated the alleged sexual harassment against the lecturer before relieving him of his job. ....
