LAKEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) A Los Angeles County sheriff s motorcycle deputy was killed Thursday morning in a traffic collision in Lakewood, Sheriff Alex Villanueva announced. In a tweet, Villanueva said he was saddened to share news of the fatal crash, which occurred near Del Amo and Paramount boulevards. Deputy Thomas J. Albanese, 41, leaves behind a wife and two sons, ages 7 and 11. He was a Marine veteran who served four tours of duty in Iraq. Sheriff Alex Villanueva said Albanese joined the department in 2013 and became a motorcycle officer last year. A GoFundMe has been established to help the family of Deputy Albanese.
