Ago. you re looking at the santa monica pier, the world famous pier there in southern california. as you can see when the chopper camera from kabc pulls out, you can see some pretty massive beach erosion taking place as some of the storm drainage systems are simply overwhelmed by the volume of rain water being pumped into this region by tropical storm hilary. this is going to continue on for the next several hours. you can see right there as the camera zooms in on this beach erosion in southern california. you ll see one gentleman, we were looking at some of this during the commercial break, walking on the beach. please don t do this. if you are in southern california. this is not the time to take a stroll on the beach in these conditions. please be safe out there. we ll keep an eye on this and ....
From some of our people in the field that they did not really feel at all that much. so, it might be because folks are paying attention to the tropical storm that is making its way into the region. the rain is lashing southern california as we speak. hillary is the first tropical storm to hit the area since 1939. the fears are historic as well. some areas will see a year s worth of rain in just a day or two. flash flood warnings are up across the region. a couple hours away from hillary crossing into southern california. maybe a little less than that. take a look at some of the video coming in just in the last hour or so this is from our affiliate in los angeles kabc. the flood waters making their way on to the roadways, the freeways, people are attempting to drive around some of the flood water which is is not advisable. that is why the authorities are warning people to stay in their homes. as you can see, flood waters, ....

Warning from officials in the lead-up to the wildfires that have completely decimated parts of maui. when asked if he thought the island s siren warning system worked sufficiently, the mayor of maui would not comment. he said it was a, quote, impossible situation. our affiliate kabc spoke with a man who tried to save his home until the very last moment. i sat up on top of the roof and battled the fire for about three hours. i couldn t do it anymore. then i said, i have to move. then i ran to the ocean and just gave in. so you literally saved yourself by jumping that the ocean? yes. when you turned around and looked back, what did you see? devastation. everything. everything gone. now, the number of those killed is now at 55, but it s unclear how high it could rise because police do not know how many people are actually missing. ....
This is a community in lockdown because something horrible has happened to them. and julia, not to and just to jump in, because our friends at kabc, they have an aerial view of what is taking place and helped us with a little bit of what we re looking at right now. the shot is tight on this white cargo van that we were just talking about where they went into the back of it and it looks like there no there, there. but this helicopter shot just zoomed out and then panned over to what looked to be the other parking lot where the other white cargo van was parked. that they do go through just a few moments ago. kabc helicopter pilot camera person is doing this once again. and you could see there are law enforcement officials surrounding that van where the window was smashed. they went into it a few moments ago. we were just talking about this before the last break. and as we were just discussing, when we were talking about this ....
