Thailand asked Korea on Thursday to toughen the pre-entry screening process for foreign visitors from visa-waiver countries, after a number of its citizens were denied entry into Korea and the incidents stirred public ire.
Some Thai nationals are campaigning against visiting Korea and opting for other neighboring countries after a growing number of travelers from the Southeastern Asian country have been denied entry to Korea.
Korea plans to simplify immigration procedures for inbound travelers by extending the electronic travel authorization validity from two to three years and exempt the young and old from applying for e-travel authorization in advance.
The K-ETA electronic travel authorisation, compulsory to enter without a visa, is now being waved for tourists from some countries – but only until December 31, 2024.
