Newtown police have arrested an individual after a months-long investigation into what they believe to be racist remarks made during a virtual high school class.
Officials said they ve arrested a local juvenile for crimes that were committed in the fall of 2020.

The person is accused of accessing the online platform Google Classroom at Newtown High School and using racial epithets in an abusive and disruptive manner, according to police.
The individual arrested faces charges including ridicule on account of race, disorderly conduct, and fifth degree computer crime. They were released into the custody of their parents with a court date in Bridgeport Juvenile Court, according to officials. ....

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson announced the arrest of a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting death of a woman Sunday evening in New Orleans East.
The teen is accused of shooting and killing 52-year-old Anita Leviege in the 7000 block of Morrison Road.
According to investigators, Leviege was driving on Morrison Rd. Sunday evening when her vehicle was approached by two suspects. The suspects opened fire on the vehicle and the victim attempted to drive away from the scene. The victim later crashed her vehicle into another vehicle before coming to a stop. ....

very interesting. job applicants may soon be competing not only with college grads but maybe even young people who have spent time in juvenile detention. the labor department is giving $26 million in grants to help young people ages 16 to 24 who have a juvenile arrest. it s called the face-forward program and the grants will sport job training and support job training and education to help them overcome that stigma of having a record and therefore it could improve their job prospects. it is not clear which types of jobs and industries the group will provide training for, but it is clear that the labor department believes in second chances and helping young people reenter society. i understand that, helping them get rehabilitated but i m sure it is causing a lot of controversy. essentially yeah. a lot of people are doing good things and they are not getting millions of dollars to find jobs. essentially the labor department feels this group is so young let s not ruin their ch ....
