Supreme Court declines to hear petition on multinational tea estates

The Supreme Court has declined to hear a petition by the Kericho county government for an adivisory opinion that would have seen a number of multinational tea companies lose their land.
The apex court faulted the county government for failing to first seek the advice of the Attorney-General on the ownership of land parcels it claims were forcely acquired by the British colonial administration from the Kipsigis and Talai communities.

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Sunday, May 23, dissected a few possible scenarios that the 2022 General elections would occur if the Judicial process would get involved, similarly to the 2017 General elections.
Putting all the scenarios into play, he detailed a scenario that would see the election process hold the country hostage for more than six months- resulting in President Uhuru Kenyatta holding office until April 2023.
The analyst noted that the elections would be held on August 9, 2022, according to the Constitution. Soon after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) would announce the results after seven days. (August 16). ....
