Shahrir withdraws bid to recuse Justice Nazlan following news of the latter's transfer

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 8): Former Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Samad has today withdrawn his application to recuse High Court judge Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali from hearing the application he put in to transfer his money laundering case from the Sessions Court to the High Court.
This follows news that Justice Nazlan will be transferring from the High Court s criminal division to the High Court s civil division, effective this March 1.
Shahrir s counsel Datuk Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin told
theedgemarkets.com that they are withdrawing the recusal application due to this transfer order, and asked for a case management date to be fixed for his client s application to transfer the case from the Sessions Court to the High Court. ....

Transfer of judge a routine matter, say experts

KUALA LUMPUR: The transfer of Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali, who presided over the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial, out of a criminal court is to replace a judge retiring from a civil court.
A statement by the Chief Registrar’s Office here yesterday confirmed that Justice Nazlan’s transfer from Criminal High Court 3 to New Civil Court (NCvC) 2 will be effective March 1.
“This is a normal practice for judges. Justice Nazlan’s transfer to the civil court is to replace Justice Wong Chee Lin who will be retiring, ” the Chief Registrar’s Office said.
Previously, before he was assigned to the criminal court, Justice Nazlan was attached to the commercial division and has experience as well as expertise in civil and commercial matters, it added. ....

Malaysian judge in Najib's 1MDB-linked case transferred back to civil court

The transfer of Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali came about six months after he found Najib guilty in the case involving SRC International, a former unit of 1Malaysia Developmend Bhd (1MDB).
In a circular issued by the Bar Council to all members of the Bar on Friday (Jan 22), Chief Judge of Malaya Azahar Mohamed directed the transfer of Justice Nazlan from the Kuala Lumpur High Court (Criminal 3) to Kuala Lumpur High Court from March 1, Malaysiakini news site reported on Saturday.

Felda seeks to consolidate trials for all suits related to Synergy Promenade

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 28): The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and its subsidiary Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC) wants to consolidate the trial of its RM2 billion suit against its two former chairmen Tan Sri Isa Samad and Tan Sri Shahrir Samad, Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd, Synergy Promenade KLVC Sdn Bhd and 17 others with other ongoing trials involving the same parties, for the cases to be tried jointly.
A case management was held via e-review today and the hearing of the application to consolidate the suits has been fixed on April 21 at 2.30pm. The case management was done before High Court deputy registrar, Idamasliza Maarof, who fixed the hearing date before Justice Wong Chee Lin. ....
