New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hear on Aug 4, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Suvendu Adhikari's plea challenging a July 20 order of Calcutta High Court vacating a two-year-long restraint on West Bengal police in registering FIRs against him.
The court said that the police can take action after examining the complaints filed and then file FIRs. However, the FIRs should not be filed just for the sake of harassment. The order came while hearing a PIL against the protection from FIRs without prior court permission.
