Court summons Omoyele Sowore over 'fake report' against police chief

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has granted the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police, Mohammed Adamu’s prayer in the N10 billion suit filed against Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters, to appear before it over an alleged false media report.
Justice Binta Mohammed, in a ruling, granted the I-G’s plea in a motion exparte number: FCT/HC/M/13103/2020 filed by his lawyer, Alex Izinyon, SAN.
The judge then adjourned the matter until Jan. 26, 2021 for hearing.
Newsmen report that while Adamu is the applicant in the motion, Sowore is the defendant.
Izinyon had, in the application, sought an order of the court, “granting leave to the claimant/applicant (Adamu) to issue and serve the writ of summons and statement of claim on the defendant who resides at No. 1, Mosafejo Street, Kiribo, Ese-Odo LGA, Ondo State, outside the jurisdiction of this honourable court. ....

Cross River By-election: Appeal Court Affirms Jarigbe as PDP's Candidate

The Court of Appeal, Abuja yesterday affirmed the declaration of Agom Jarigbe as the duly elected candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Cross River North senatorial by-election that held on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
Justice Binta Mohammed of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had in her judgment declared Jarigbe as validly nominated by the PDP for the by-election.
Dissatisfied, an aspirant, Mr John Alaga approached the Court of Appeal to set aside the judgment of the trial court.
However, in a unanimous judgment, the appellate court dismissed the appeal as frivolous, vexatious and abuse of court process. ....
