The Supreme Court Friday ordered that the proceedings pending before Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of Calcutta High Court against Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee, be transferred to some other judge.
In a special Friday evening hearing, Supreme Court stayed the Calcutta High Court order by Justice Gangopadhay directed the Supreme Court Secretary General to produce the report and official transcript of an interview
The court sought a report from the Calcutta High Court's Registrar General as to whether Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay had taken part in a TV interview last September.
The Judge found that the Division Bench had fixed a course of action for him to follow. However, stated that there was absolutely no reason for him to prevented in such a manner.
