First step to competing against young, experienced international players begins with team trials May 14-16 in Denver
The FIBA U19 World Cup is one of the most difficult competitions on USA Basketball’s calendar, and this year likely will be no exception.
In the first three editions of the event, which was then known as the FIBA Junior World Championship, the USA teams, each of which featured future Olympians, finished no better than fifth place.
In 1997, the Americans broke into the medal standings in style – by defeating Australia in overtime in the gold medal game. From then on, the U.S. collected a medal at each competition, including seven gold medals (six in a row from 2005-2015), one silver medal in 2017 and one bronze medal in 2001. ....

Jones Invited to AmeriCup Team Trials

STANFORD, Calif. - Fresh off a spectacular sophomore season, Haley Jones has been selected to participate in team trials for USA Basketball Women s AmeriCup. She, along with 19 other top collegiate players, will compete for a spot from April 18-21, 2021 on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
Invitations to the trials were issued by the USA Basketball Women s Junior National Team Committee and USA Women s Senior National Team Committee.
Jones has previously won a gold medal with USA Basketball, taking first place at the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup in Belarus.
Ten nations from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean will take part in the 2021 AmeriCup, held June 11-19 in Puerto Rico. The top four finishing teams will advance to compete in one of four 2022 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournaments in hopes of earning one of the 12 spots in the 2022 FIBA World Cup field. Ten Gold Medalists Headline 2021 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team Trials Invitees

Twenty of the nation’s top collegiate athletes, including 10 who have captured a combined 21 gold medals competing on past USA Basketball teams, have accepted invitations to attend the April 18-21, 2021 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials.
Invitations to the trials, which will be held at the University of South Carolina, were issued by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee and USA Women’s Senior National Team Committee.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, no media or guests will be allowed to view trials sessions. USA Basketball will provide media with images and b-roll for non-commercial, editorial use on a daily basis. ....
