Academy midfielder Monty Patterson was amongst the scorers as New Zealand’s U20s smashed Papua New Guinea 12-1 in a friendly in Auckland this morning.
Patterson, who starts a full-time scholarship with the Blues this summer, came on as a sub in the 83rd minute and three minutes later netted his side’s 12th goal, the visitors adding their solitary strike in injury time.
The goal was the 17-year-old’s fourth in the Junior All Whites’ three friendlies this week. On Sunday he scored once in a 5-0 victory over Fiji, then picked up a brace in Tuesday’s second friendly against the same opposition.
