KIGALI, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) on Friday launched a COVID-19 testing targeting people working in public transport sector in Kigali, as part of efforts to assess the prevalence of the virus in the capital.
The two-day exercise aims to test 5,000 drivers of public transport and motorcycle taxis in three separate spots. The result will help make intervention against specific groups if necessary, health ministry spokesperson Julien Niyingabira told Xinhua in a phone interview.
On Jan. 1-29, students were the most infected group with 1,167 new infections, followed by farmers with 969 infections, traders with 812, health personnel with 536 and teachers with 184, according to data released Friday by RBC. ....
