knocking on doors and passing out flyers and then this morning, the worst nightmare came true. she was found like two blocks from where raymond messinger witnessed a dramatic car wreck a woman s body is found. police say the body fits the description of julie ann kroll. the mother who went missing two weeks ago when messinger saw her jump out of her car while driving to chase her daughter. when she did she left the car in drive. the car took off by itself and went into my neighbor s yard and bumped the tree. called the police because the little girl was crying, and saying that it wasn t safe to drive with her mom within minutes kroll had fled the scene where police say they found an empty alcohol container. i thought when they impounded her car they must have found her. i did not know until christmas eve when her best friend showed up at my house. showed up with these fliers. family members tell 9 news now they had filed a missing person s report the day aft
. the threat, an al qaeda group brags that it s behind the christmas day terror plot. the plan was to blow up an airline jet and they ll keep trying. there was warning from the suspect s own family much he was on the watch list. so why was he allowed on a flight headed to the united states? according to a law enforcement source, the first security break down came on november 19th, 2009. that is the same day his father warned officials at the u.s. embassy about his son. then, again, on november 20th in washington after the doctor s concerns were warranted there, officials failed for the second time that the 23-year-old national held an active u.s. visa. he boarded a flight from amsterdam. thanks to passengers and crew, his plot was not successful. tonight he s being held in a federal prison and that is where we re standing by with more. reporter: the 23-year-old told us us u.s. officials from the start he was on a mission. they had provided him with a technically adv
got that complete 9 news now forecast coming your way in a few minutes. scary stuff. well, today s fierce winds brought down trees and power lines across the area. live in gaithersburg with a look at the damage she found there, lindsay? reporter: it is extremely windy here. this tree behind me is one of the fee with leaves on it which is surprising after today. at times the wind is extremely violent and is responsible for major damage. a tree landed on these vehicles in northwest washington. a little surprising. it i have never seen anything like that. this neighbor first thought it was vandalism. he was shocked to learn it was the wind. all i know that is sometimes when the wind blows, my house makes certain creeks and it has been doing that all day. a tall tree scraped the side of this home on ken dleworth avenue. it landed on power lines. the tremendous also ruptured a gas line. the amount of gas coming out according to the fire people was tremendous.
