Cambridge announces start of annual sock drive Community Content The office of Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui is partnering with Vice-Mayor Alanna Mallon, the Cambridge City Council, CASPAR & Bay Cove, the Cambridge Police Department and CambridgeSide to collect and donate 2,500 wool socks to homeless residents for its fourth annual “Warm Hearts, Warm Feet Sock Drive.” From Feb. 1-14, this year’s sock drive aims to collect the largest amount of donations in the sock drive’s history. Due to COVID-19, extra precautions will be in place to increase participation. In 2021, people can donate wool socks at a Bay Cove CASPAR donation bin located at 300 Tech Square, Olympia Sports at CambridgeSide, Hilton’s Tent City, the Cambridge Police Department or virtually through the office’s Amazon wishlist. Wool socks are available to purchase and drop off at Olympia Sports at CambridgeSide and Hilton’s Tent City.
