A serial killer obsessive and his boyfriend have been jailed for life for murdering and dismembering a stranger at their “flat of horrors” containing weapons, snakes and horror film masks.
A month-long trial at Coventry Crown Court was told former TV and film student Nathan Maynard-Ellis, aged 30, decided to kill Julia Rawson to “re-enact” horror movies found at his flat.
Maynard-Ellis killed Ms Rawson, who he lured to his home in Mission Drive, Dudley Port, Tipton, West Midlands, after a chance meeting in a Dudley pub, with the help of David Leesley as the culmination of “years of pent-up fantasy and desire”. ....

A man who murdered and dismembered a woman at his flat has been jailed for life and will serve a minimum of 30 years in prison.
Nathan Maynard-Ellis, 30, took Julia Rawson home after meeting her in a pub in Dudley, West Midlands, in May 2019.
Along with his boyfriend David Leesley, 25, they killed her and hid her body parts.
Leesley was also sentenced to life in prison and will serve a minimum of 19 years.
During the trial at Coventry Crown Court, prosecutor Karim Khalil QC said Ms Rawson, 42, could not have known that she was about to enter a flat of horrors . ....

TWO men have been jailed for life after being found guilty of the horrific murder of Dudley woman Julia Rawson.
Nathan Maynard-Ellis and his partner David Leesley were sentenced today (Monday December 21) for carrying carried out the gruesome crime which devastated Julia Rawson’s family and friends and shocked and saddened the community.
Julia, aged 42, a talented artist from Dudley, disappeared after spending the day with friends before ending up in the Bottle and Cork pub in Dudley on the evening of Saturday May 11. ....
