with a body camera. bob redell is live with more on that plan. maybe other law enforcement agencies will follow suit bob. reporter: recent police officer shootings of unarmed black men throughout the country and incidents here in the city duff ninl influenced mayor ed lee s decision to equip all san francisco police officers with body cameras. within the past hour here at the brand-new police headquarters mayor lee along with the chief of police and the board of supervisors pledged $6.6 million over the next two years to buy 1800 of the body cameras. that makes them the largest police officers in the country. they can record the officers interactions with citizens and criminals. chief greg cited a study showing use of force complaints have dropped by 87% in other departments that have already started using the body cams. it s a win-win situation that protects good people from both sides of the lens. it the officers know they re wearing them so their behavior is going
