St. Paul’s (Md.) defeated former No. 1 McDonogh (Md.) 16-9 on Wednesday, resulting in another major climb for the Gators.
Christina Gagnon scored five goals to go with three assists, Frannie Hahn and Kendall Steer had three goals apiece and Caitlin McElwee added two goals. Josie Hahn and Lauren Steer each had two assists. St. Paul’s jumped out to a 10-0 lead. Leah Warehime made four saves.
It’s the first regular-season defeat of McDonogh by an IAAM team since 2008.
The Gators then beat Bryn Mawr (Md.) 15-10 on Saturday. Gagnon and McElwee had three goals and one assist apiece, and Lauren Steer, Josie Hahn and Frannie Hahn all contributed two goals apiece, with Lauren Steer adding two assists. Warehime made eight saves.

Practices are beginning for several teams in the Northeast and West this week, and some teams have already started to play meaningful games in those regions. For the first time in a long time, lacrosse is back across the entire country.
That will lead to shakeups in the future, but for now, the top of Nike / US Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25 remains largely unchanged. The only notable change is that St. Paul’s (Md.) has entered the top 10 at No. 9 after a 2-0 week. St. Paul’s plays McDonogh on Wednesday in a key in-state matchup.
