A pandemic couldn’t stop the momentum of a band like Moontype. On their debut album, “Bodies of Water,” the trio comprised of Margaret McCarthy, Emerson Hunton and Ben Cruz has crafted a propulsive collection of reverb-laden songs that swerve through complex rhythms and biting, emotionally-driven lyrics. Released last month to national critical acclaim, Moontype said the record was a long-time coming. But perfecting it in the early weeks and months of the pandemic made for a more potent collection of songs that sound perfect as the rest of the city emerges from the fog of isolation.
