Credit: getty SIR – You report on the two women who were fined £200 by Derbyshire police after driving into the countryside for a walk with cups of coffee. The case is now under review – but should such excessive enforcement occur again, the consequences for policing by consent and the public’s respect for the police are likely to be negative. A degree of common sense must be applied. Phil Coutie   SIR – Here in a Derby suburb on the edge of a local park, there is a stall selling coffee and soup and attracting large groups, yet there has not been a policeman in sight.
