Bashir-Aliyu had been working in an acting capacity for over three months following the retirement of Suleiman Umaru Dikko, her predecessor.
She was sworn in after her confirmation by the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) and screening by the state house of assembly.
She will be the fifth person to occupy the position since the state was created in 1996.

Speaking during the ceremony, Sule asked Bashir-Aliyu to take the appointment as a litmus test while expressing optimism that she will not disappoint “the womenfolk”.
The governor said Bashir-Aliyu was appointed based on her track record of professionalism and experience. ....

Alleged Invasion: Ogun Assembly threatens warrant of arrest against Monarch

The Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, who announced this at the plenary on Thursday, said if the monarch fails to appear, the assembly would invoke section 129 of the 1999 Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (As Amended) by issuing of a warrant of arrest against him.
Oluomo said the third invitation extended to the monarch became imperative owing to two previous invitations already extended to him in the previous year which he failed to honour.
The assembly through its Committee on Lands and Housing led by Hon. Damilola Soneye had earlier summoned the monarch to explain allegations levelled against him.
Soneye and other lawmakers had earlier engaged concerned members of the community on their petition against the monarch who was expected to appear before the lawmakers on Thursday. ....
