Razi White, the man who killed security guard Michael Stubbs at Pioneer Plaza in 2022 with a metal water bottle, was sentenced to 20 years in prison today.
A 25-year-old former military member was sentenced Thursday to 10 years’ imprisonment for the 2021 death of a 37-year-old man and injury to a woman, both her friends from Texas and passengers in the Nissan Rogue she was driving while intoxicated and crashing into a police car on the H-1 freeway.
In a historic vote last week, Judge Shanlyn Park was confirmed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawai'i, making her the first Native Hawaiian woman to serve as a district court judge. The U.S. Senate confirmed Park in a bipartisan vote of 53-45. Native Hawaiians comprise 21.8% of the population served by the district where Judge Park will preside.
