A jury has found footballer Jack de Belin not guilty of a sexual assault charge - but failed to reach a verdict on five further counts.
Judge Nicole Noman discharged the Sydney jury after they failed to break a deadlock on the remaining charges just before 3pm on Monday afternoon.
That means the suspended St George Illawarra forward, 30, and his friend Callan Sinclair, 24, face the prospect of a possible third criminal trial.

The jury in the rape trial of footballer Jack de Belin and his mate Callan Sinclair has reached a unanimous verdict on one of the six charges.
But the NSW District Court has heard the 12 jurors definitely can t reach a similar unanimous decision on the five remaining counts against the pair.
At about 1pm on Monday, Judge Nicole Noman ordered the Sydney jury to try and reach an 11 to 1 majority verdict on the outstanding charges.

A jury considering rape charges against NRL footballer Jack de Belin has indicated its deliberations may continue into next week.
The St George Illawarra forward, 30, and his friend Callan Sinclair, 24, have both pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of aggravated sexual assault.
The Sydney District Court jury on Thursday asked if it was permitted to continue its verdict deliberations into next week, in the event it could not achieve a unanimous decision by Friday afternoon.

The jury in NRL star Jack de Belin s sexual assault trial has been dismissed within an hour of proceedings starting after a juror complained about the day rate they receive.
The St George Illawarra Dragons forward, 30, and friend Callan Sinclair, 23, have pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in December, 2018 in Wollongong.
The trial had seen the previous jury discharged after failing to come to a unanimous verdict in December last year, and the court will now have to interview another set of potential jurors on Wednesday.
