A Rockaway Township man, who officials said is a member of the far-right Proud Boys group, was arrested and charged Tuesday for his aggressive role in the deadly U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, said a federal prosecutor at a hearing hours after the arrest.
Shawn Price, 26, brought goggles, milk and other substances used to neutralize the effects of pepper spray or other chemical irritants on his trip to Washington, D.C., on Jan. 2, Catherine Murphy, an assistant federal prosecutor in New Jersey said at the hearing in Newark.
Price, formerly of Hopatcong in Sussex County, has been accused of helping to push a crowd forward into a line of officers that were working to secure the Capitol building.

Jose Rodriguez, 48, is charged by complaint with one count of theft from an agency receiving federal funds and one count of theft of government property, authorities said.
Rodriguez is scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark Falk via videoconference Tuesday afternoon.
Since October 2007, Rodriguez was employed as a senior engineer and repairman for the passenger railroad service at one of the facilities in North Brunswick, according to court documents.
