Uhuru Allies Divided Over His Nationwide Tour Agenda

Jubilee party members have differed on whether President Uhuru Kenyatta should embark on a nationwide tour in order to woo voters back to the ruling party. 
A section of Uhuru allies believe that there is an urgent need for Uhuru to tour the country in order to get in touch with his supporters and re-energise the party after losing the recently held Kiambaa by-elections.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan affirmed that Uhuru, the symbol of national unity, is the key for Jubilee to prevent a further split within the Mt Kenya region.  ....

The ruling Jubilee Party has removed Soi MP Caleb Kositany as the ruling party’s deputy secretary-general.
Kositany who has declared that he will not defend his Soi seat on the Jubilee ticket was removed after the party’s National Management Committee (NMC) meeting on Monday.
Kositany has been replaced by Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny as the new deputy SG.
“In exercise of its mandate as provided for under Article7 (2) of the Jubilee Party Constitution removed Caleb Kositany from the position Deputy Secretary-General with immediate effect. Joshua Kuttuny, MP for Cherengany, is the new Deputy Secretary-General of the Jubilee Party,” read a statement by the party signed by Secretary-General Raphael Tuju. ....

After an eventful year characterised by a fight for the soul of Jubilee Party, President Uhuru Kenyatta enters the twilight of his presidency with a full in-tray on his desk.
Forget his legacy wishes. That will entirely be dependent on how well he is able to manage the immediate tasks at hand, like stabilise the economy, retain his grip on power and cultivate the respect of a diverse and restless group of potential successors ready to mercilessly tear into each other.
Senate Majority Chief Whip Irungu Kang’ata is of the opinion that Uhuru’s focus will remain on delivering his many projects, among them water and roads. “He wants Kenyans to achieve political reforms, but I think his focus remains on legacy and development and not politics,” said Kang’ata. ....

Drama, violence, arrests, bribery claims and low turn-out rocked the Msambweni by-election.
In the melee that ensued, former Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama, Belgut MP Nelson Koech and a man identified as John Kiarie (not the MP) were arrested over alleged election malpractices.
Police said Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and Lunga Lunga’s Khatib Mwashetani were also being sought over chaos at Jomo Kenyatta Primary School polling centre. ....
