Said this was so good i thought it was going to be a disappointment, but it wasnt. This is his second musical, he made another one before and then he made whiplash. From the beginning, the screen opens up into this glorious cinemascope and it is an explosion of colour and there is this fabulous dance sequence which reminds you of fame. Then the story occupies a space between, on the one hand, then the style jar of woody allen, and the free form felicity of gravity. There is a sequence where we go flying with the cameras. The performances were brilliant. Emma store dominates that. She has to play at acting to be an actor and she does it brilliantly. Emma stone. It was well choreographed and i love the lyrics.
