includes poor air quality, hot temperatures, but we re starting out with a cold morning, rob. yeah. you know, it s interesting. we ve reached the time of year now where some parts of the bay area are waking up in the 40s. we have that around santa rosa this morning, but the more common theme, unfortunately, is a view like this around walnut creek with a bit of a red sunrise occurring around the bay area. you see all the smoke around walnut creek, inland contra costa county on the map this morning. you can see all the areas in red, essentially from the berkeley hills east, through the tri-valley, the creek through sunol and livermore. the worst is around yountville, windsor and calistoga, in the purple, very unhealthy, aqi number over 200. more moderate along the inner coast and bay where a weak sea breeze has brought in clouds this morning. air quality conditions are not expected to change a lot as we head into the afternoon. worst of it will be for the inland north bay, ea

[applause] harvey: good evening, everybody and thank you very much for coming. i would like to thank george for hearing the program. and think the commonwealth club for having me. to tell you, i plan several things about the bridge. first of all, i wrote this particular book building the golden gate bridge: a workers oral history , and to give you some a struggle background about the bridge, and finally to read some selected passages from the book. i may labor historian who ventured into oral history in the 1980 s. when i was working on a project for the international longshore and warehouse union on the west coast. famous union. forterviewed some veterans the labor archives. at san francisco state university. aredirector there, these veterans let helps build the golden gate bridge in 1930 between 1933 and 1937 when the bridge was built. they were interviewed for the 50th
