It is time, officials there said, to give Chinese elders foods they prefer, which they said is not always the case with Meals on Wheels and food pantries.
The Asian elders were asked what foods they would like, and they named dishes they had at home with their families and shared recipes they like.
The first meal in the new program was marinated grilled pork chops, rice, peas, sweet corn, carrots and a fresh banana. The staff prepared, served and delivered the food.
We wanted to give them foods they actually prefer, said Joyce Guan, longtime executive director of the Wollaston Senior Center.
