A former cult leader has been sentenced to 30 years in prison in the deaths of two children in the 1980s, including a toddler who she allegedly locked in a closet.
Anna Elizabeth Young, 79, was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Emon Moss Harper. Emon was between ages 2 and 3 when his mother gave him to the House of Prayer for All People cult in Micanopy, Florida. He died around 1988 after he was locked in a closet and deprived of food and water. ....

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. A former cult leader will spend the next 30 years in prison after she pleaded no contest to killing two toddlers more than 30 years ago.
A judge found 79-year-old Anna Young guilty of murder in the death of Emon Harper and manslaughter in the death of Katonya Jackson in the 1980s. The 30-year sentence Young received will most likely keep her behind bars for the rest of her life. ....

'House of Prayer' leader gets 30-year term in toddler's death

It’s taken more than 30 years but somebody has finally been held accountable for the death of toddler Emon Harper 79-year-old former Micanopy-area cult leader Anna Young.
Young pleaded guilty and was sentenced Wednesday to 30 years in prison for killing Emon who also went by the name Moses through abuse and starvation when she ruled over the House of Prayer.
Former Eighth Circuit State Attorney Bill Cervone, who made the decision to charge Young decades later and without Emon’s remains ever being found, said the elements of the case made it unique.
“One of a kind, truly one of a kind,” Cervone said. “I was always certain she was criminally responsible, that it was a classic cult situation … and the others were under her sway.” ....
