Sen. Sinema angers progressives, socialists with ring that reads 'f**k off'

Last month Sen. Krysten Sinema voted no on an effort to add a minimum wage provision to a bill which could be passed with just a simple majority. Democrats were made about the loss but they really got angry at the way she gave a little thumbs down move on the Senate floor.
Why is Senator Sinema from AZ so happy about voting against minimum way increase?
How infuriating when millions of people are struggling including in her own state.pic.twitter.com/fEhxr29Aci
Seriously, this really made a lot of people furious. This video mocking her has been viewed nearly 175,000 times. The lack of love between Sen. Sinema and progressives escalated a bit yesterday when she posted an image on Instagram in which she’s drinking Sangrian through a straw while wearing a ring that reads “F k off.” I don’t actually see the post on Instagram so she may have deleted it but a reporter for Politico copied it over to Twitter yesterday: ....

Twitter Erupts Over 'White Supremacist' America First Caucus

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA),
Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and which endorses what it calls “uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions.”
Kevin McCarthy, and a blizzard of condemnation and mockery from blue-check Twitter.
Members of Congress from both parties were among those who pilloried the caucus with varying degrees of intensity.
So what kind of food will they eat in this Caucus meeting? Just purely Anglo Saxon food? What does that even look like ? Can you use spices? What about tomatoes and potatoes those were cultivated by Indigenous people of the New World? https://t.co/pQpvyFPoaI
I guess they may have skipped 19th century American history and the part about the Civil War? Read Lincoln’s 1858 July 4th speech or Frederick Douglass 1869 Composite Nation to understand American identity. I’d be happy to join any America caucus centered around those texts. ....

Bill Maher: Why are Democrats so badly misinformed about COVID?

I don’t know that there’s much to say here beyond noting that he’s correct in every particular over the course of its seven-minute run time. Including, I think, his explanation at the end for why the pandemic was unusually deadly in the U.S. compared to most other countries.
He even goes to bat for Ron DeSantis on his pandemic performance vis-a-vis Andrew Cuomo’s.
Every point will be familiar to you if you’re a regular reader of this site or a consumer of right-wing media generally. We’ve noted the media’s “bad news bias” on COVID in the past, as well as lefties’ gross overestimate of how often infections result in hospitalization. But for the average HBO viewer, it must have felt revelatory. ....

'Boycott Simon & Schuster': Over 20,000 sign petition to cancel book deal with Breonna Taylor's 'killer' cop

Mattingly was one of three officers that burst into Taylor s home on March 13, 2020. The narcotics raid turned ugly when Taylor s boyfriend fired at the officers, assuming the cops were intruders. The bullet hit Mattingly in the leg, leading him to fire back. Mattingly fired back, killing Taylor but was never charged. Detectives Myles Cosgrove and Brett Hankinson were dismissed from the Louisville PD for their actions.

The publisher with no shame
In light of the news of Mattingly s book, activists have hit back hard. Activist Nandini Jammi created the petition earlier on Thursday, 15 April. Within hours, it surged to over 20,000 signatures. The page says, None of the three officers who fired into her home have been charged in her death. Now, they are now seeking fame and profit over Breonna s name and memory. Breonna has already lost her life due to the ....

A new proposal to revamp unemployment systems and increase benefits announced

A new proposal to revamp unemployment systems and increase benefits announced
When millions of workers in the US lost jobs, they struggled to receive unemployment benefits from government systems that some leaders say were designed to fail.

Nearly 22 million workers in the United States lost their jobs as a result of the covid-19 pandemic. In some of the hardest-hit states, like Florida, state governments saw unemployment jump over 1000% from January 2019 levels. When a crisis of this magnitude strikes, citizens hope that their government and the systems needed to provide relief work.
Well in Florida, and across the country, they did not. ....
