COVID-19 vaccine: Jacksonville youths promote access to vaccine shots


Floridians as young as 16 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine as of Monday. Currently, the Pfizer vaccine is the only one approved for 16- and 17-year-olds. All of the vaccines available right now Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are approved for those 18 and older. As recently as the beginning of March, eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine among the general public was limited to adults 65 or older.
Anyone under 18 receiving a vaccine will need to find a vaccine site that carries the Pfizer version of the vaccine. Currently, federal-run sites carry Moderna and sometimes Johnson & Johnson. The Regency state-run site confirmed Friday that it would carry the Pfizer vaccine and would have parent/guardian consent forms on-site. Privately run sites like CVS and Walmart may also carry Pfizer, but it depends on the location. Parents and guardians are advised to check with specific sites ahead of time.  ....
